Staff Physician

The Rockbridge Area Health Center (RAHC) is currently recruiting a Staff Physician.  The role of physician is to provide high quality primary health care services to patients of the Health Center. Physicians may concentrate on one particular age group or provide medical care to persons across the age cycle. The physician is a member of the clinical team at RAHC. The physician, unless otherwise noted, does not have formal supervisory authority over other Center staff. However, the physician is expected to monitor and provide counsel and consultation to other clinical staff in order to achieve the best possible clinical outcomes for Health Center patients. Physicians will work to achieve the productivity goals established by the Health Center.

The staff physician must be board certified or board eligible licensed practitioner who devotes his/her professional services to the benefit of (RAHC) and seeks to incorporate all his/her medical activities into the practice of RAHC.  Other requirements include:

  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • DEA license to prescribe medicine.
  • Board certification in chosen field of practice.
  • Cannot be sanctioned under Medicaid or Medicare.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to take call, work evening hours and weekends if necessary.

Director of Nursing

The Rockbridge Area Health Center (RAHC), is a community health center committed to providing quality health care in a compassionate environment. RAHC is currently seeking a Director of Nursing to join its team of excellent practitioners to provide quality and compassionate primary care services (outpatient only) in our community. The RAHC offers integrated health care services for the whole family. Doctors, dentists, licensed clinical social workers, certified diabetes educators, behavioral health counselors, psychiatrists, outreach workers, and patient care nurses work as a team to provide individualized, holistic care for each patient. RAHC has been nationally recognized as a Health Center Quality Leader.

The Director of Nursing supervises and directs the nursing services for RAHC, including recruitment, hiring, orientation, scheduling, training, evaluation and discipline of the nursing staff and nursing support staff according to policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives of the department and RAHC. The Director of Nursing is the Risk Management and Infection Control Officer of the Health Center and a member of the Quality Improvement Committee. The Director of Nursing works in close collaboration with the Medical Director and medical providers to implement approved RAHC clinical policies, procedures, and protocols as well as quality improvement activities. The Director of Nursing is responsible for ensuring supervised staff development and education consistent with best practices for the respective role/position.

RAHC is a National Health Service Corps Site and this position is eligible for education loan payback provisions.

Certified Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant will perform patient care and administrative duties proficiently and efficiently while communicating with providers and other team members about patient needs. They will assist other team members to provide quality, comprehensive care by returning patient calls and completing provider orders such as medication refills, scheduling referral and/or specialist appointments, authorizing and scheduling diagnostic testing, performing phlebotomy and/or finger sticks, completing laboratory forms and performing other point-of-care tests such as a urinalysis, strep test, EKG, vision screening, pulse oximetry, etc. As part of the patient care team, the Medical Assistant provides patient-centered care and collaborates with the Quality Improvement team to track the implementation of best practices and achievement of quality measures.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Licensure or applicant for licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Medical Assistant in the State of Virginia
  • Certification in Basic Life Support through the American Red Cross (or comparable certification)
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a clinical setting
  • Responsible, versatile individual willing to accept a variety of responsibilities
  • Able to work together as part of a team
  • Able to maintain a safe, clean work environment
  • Comprehensive documentation skills
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills and able to explain complex medical terms simply

Patient Access Representative

The Rockbridge Area Health Center seeks a full-time Patient Access Representative for the Medical and Behavioral Health Departments. The Patient Access Representative supports the duties and functions of the RAHC front office area and ensures that they are carried out with accuracy, timeliness and confidentiality. This position handles phone and in-person patient scheduling requests for medical and behavioral health services and receives patient payments or insurance data and inputs as necessary. Position is responsible for data input into electronic health records system with a high degree of accuracy and must deliver high quality customer service at all times.

Required: High school diploma or equivalent, strong customer service and computer skills

Preferred: Experience in medical office setting

The Rockbridge Area Health Center seeks a full-time Patient Access Representative for the Dental Clinic. The Patient Access Representative supports the duties and functions of the RAHC dental front office area and ensures that they are carried out with accuracy, timeliness and confidentiality. This position handles phone and in-person patient scheduling requests for dental services and receives patient payments or insurance data and inputs as necessary. Position is responsible for data input into the electronic health records system with a high degree of accuracy, and must deliver high quality customer service at all times.

This position works at the Mountain View Family Dentistry office located in Buena Vista, VA.

Required: High school diploma or equivalent, strong customer service and computer skills

Preferred: Experience in dental or medical office
