Staff Physician

The Rockbridge Area Health Center (RAHC) is currently recruiting a Staff Physician.  The role of physician is to provide high quality primary health care services to patients of the Health Center. Physicians may concentrate on one particular age group or provide medical care to persons across the age cycle. The physician is a member of the clinical team at RAHC. The physician, unless otherwise noted, does not have formal supervisory authority over other Center staff. However, the physician is expected to monitor and provide counsel and consultation to other clinical staff in order to achieve the best possible clinical outcomes for Health Center patients. Physicians will work to achieve the productivity goals established by the Health Center.

The staff physician must be board certified or board eligible licensed practitioner who devotes his/her professional services to the benefit of (RAHC) and seeks to incorporate all his/her medical activities into the practice of RAHC.  Other requirements include:

  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • DEA license to prescribe medicine.
  • Board certification in chosen field of practice.
  • Cannot be sanctioned under Medicaid or Medicare.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to take call, work evening hours and weekends if necessary.

Director of Nursing

The Rockbridge Area Health Center (RAHC), is a community health center committed to providing quality health care in a compassionate environment. RAHC is currently seeking a Director of Nursing to join its team of excellent practitioners to provide quality and compassionate primary care services (outpatient only) in our community. The RAHC offers integrated health care services for the whole family. Doctors, dentists, licensed clinical social workers, certified diabetes educators, behavioral health counselors, psychiatrists, outreach workers, and patient care nurses work as a team to provide individualized, holistic care for each patient. RAHC has been nationally recognized as a Health Center Quality Leader.

The Director of Nursing supervises and directs the nursing services for RAHC, including recruitment, hiring, orientation, scheduling, training, evaluation and discipline of the nursing staff and nursing support staff according to policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives of the department and RAHC. The Director of Nursing is the Risk Management and Infection Control Officer of the Health Center and a member of the Quality Improvement Committee. The Director of Nursing works in close collaboration with the Medical Director and medical providers to implement approved RAHC clinical policies, procedures, and protocols as well as quality improvement activities. The Director of Nursing is responsible for ensuring supervised staff development and education consistent with best practices for the respective role/position.

RAHC is a National Health Service Corps Site and this position is eligible for education loan payback provisions.

Immunization Coordinator (RN)

The Rockbridge Area Health Center (RAHC) is currently recruiting an Immunization Coordinator.  This position seeks to protect the community and staff from vaccine preventable disease by providing education and immunizations to the community and staff at RAHC. The Immunization Coordinator helps ensure adequate supply of vaccines, and compliance with all county, state, and federal vaccine program regulations. This position also assists with staff training and quality improvement activities to increase vaccination rates and decrease errors, and assists RAHC as needed in the areas of pre-employment and annual health screening of employees. The Immunization Coordinator will provide clinical support to the nursing department as needed and provide direct nursing care to patients.

Requirements:

  • RN license in the state of Virginia
  • BLS Certification

Preferred:

  • Two years of experience in an ambulatory care setting
  • Demonstrated clinical skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

The successful candidate will have licensure in Virginia and experience in an office-based clinical setting.

Dental Hygienist

The Rockbridge Area Health Center (RAHC) is currently recruiting a full-time Dental Hygienist to join the Dental Team at Mountain View Family Dentistry (MVFD) in Buena Vista, VA. All candidates must meet employee health requirements, including vaccination against COVID-19.

The Dental Hygienist is responsible for the direct provision of oral hygiene and appropriate preventive services to dental patients of the center. The Registered Dental Hygienist will also be responsible for providing appropriate oral health information to individuals and groups. He/She is a member of the clinical team and works cooperatively and effectively with the staff, utilizing a balanced approach which includes the perspectives of all disciplines involved in the Clinic’s health services. The Dental Hygienist will participate in establishing specific productivity goals and other activities that respond to and ensure the long-term viability of the Dental Program. The hygienist will participate in and be an active member of the mobile dental program.

Requirements:

  • Unrestricted license to practice Oral Hygiene in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Current CPR certification
  • Cannot be sanctioned under Medicaid or Medicare

Skills and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of oral hygiene care in outpatient settings
  • Knowledge of the principles and practice of modern oral hygiene and periodontal patient care
  • Cognizant of the public health, social and economic factors which impact on the overall health, and more specifically the oral health of their patients
  • Ability to creatively work with other health care professionals from a variety of disciplines to achieve maximal program effectiveness and patient benefit
  • Ability to creatively solve problems through individual and/or programmatic action is an important part of this position
  • Ability to provide patient care independently or with the aid of a dental assistant

Dental Assistant

The Rockbridge Area Health Center is currently recruiting a full-time Dental Assistant. Experience and Certification as a Dental Assistant is preferred. Certified Dental Assistants are eligible for sign-on and retention bonuses of $250 each.

Certified Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant will perform patient care and administrative duties proficiently and efficiently while communicating with providers and other team members about patient needs. They will assist other team members to provide quality, comprehensive care by returning patient calls and completing provider orders such as medication refills, scheduling referral and/or specialist appointments, authorizing and scheduling diagnostic testing, performing phlebotomy and/or finger sticks, completing laboratory forms and performing other point-of-care tests such as a urinalysis, strep test, EKG, vision screening, pulse oximetry, etc. As part of the patient care team, the Medical Assistant provides patient-centered care and collaborates with the Quality Improvement team to track the implementation of best practices and achievement of quality measures.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Licensure or applicant for licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Medical Assistant in the State of Virginia
  • Certification in Basic Life Support through the American Red Cross (or comparable certification)
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a clinical setting
  • Responsible, versatile individual willing to accept a variety of responsibilities
  • Able to work together as part of a team
  • Able to maintain a safe, clean work environment
  • Comprehensive documentation skills
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills and able to explain complex medical terms simply

Medical Lab Technician

The Rockbridge Area Health Center (RAHC) is currently recruiting a Medical Lab Technician to work on the medical team.  This position performs routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease; performs all aspects of patient care in a laboratory environment that optimizes patient safety with minimal medical/health care errors; and verifies questionable results or samples and repeats procedures as necessary. Successful candidates will demonstrate ability to function in all areas of the RAHC clinical laboratory and perform phlebotomy services as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree required
  • Certification as a Medical Lab Technician through the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification or the American Medical Technologists preferred
  • Proof of current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) certification required (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment)

Medical Scribe

The Rockbridge Area Health Center (RAHC) is currently recruiting a Medical Scribe to work on the medical team. This position will work primarily with the pediatric department but may be utilized in other areas as well. This position is responsible for recording Provider’s interactions with patients and assisting with clerical duties related to medical documentation. Other duties may include, but are not limited to, filling out paperwork, completing visit summaries and referral letters, and entering data into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in the medical field, preferably in outpatient and/or pediatric setting
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Advanced typing skills
  • Computer proficiency, including Electronic Medical Records and Microsoft Office Suite; preferred experience with e Clinical Works

Staff Accountant

The Rockbridge Area Health Center (RAHC) is currently recruiting a Staff Accountant to work as an integral member of the Finance Department. Reporting directly to the CFO, this position is responsible for the activities leading to RAHC’s financial statements, general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, budgeting, grant reporting and invoicing and various analyses.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline, or equivalent experience in the field
  • Two years’ experience in accounting
  • Recent experience in daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks including but not limited to journal entries, account reconciliation, and purchasing management
  • Audit preparation experience
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, and accounting programs
  • Non-profit, grants management and reporting experience

COVID-19 Patient Access Representative

The Rockbridge Area Health Center seeks a full-time Patient Access Representative for the COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination Team.  Patient Access Representative supports the duties and functions of COVID Team and ensures that they are carried out with accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality. This position handles phone and in-person patient scheduling requests for COVID services and receives patient payments or insurance data and inputs as necessary. Position is responsible for data input into electronic health records system with a high degree of accuracy and must deliver high quality customer service at all times.

Required: High school diploma or equivalent, strong customer service and computer skills

Preferred: Experience in an outpatient medical office
