The Rockbridge Area Health Center offers numerous ways for donors to support the organization while meeting their philanthropic and financial goals. Consultation with professional advisors in financial and estate planning is always recommended when considering a gift.

Additional ways to give:

Stock Transfer

Outright gifts of appreciated stocks, bonds and/or mutual funds provide substantial tax advantages to donors. When these appreciated assets are given directly to the Rockbridge Area Health Center, donors are free of capital gains tax. Donors may also claim a tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the securities on the date of delivery. Check with your financial advisor to see if making a stock donation is right with you.

Employer Matching Gifts

Double your donation with a corporate matching gift! Many employers match donations that their employees make to nonprofit organizations. Check with your Human Resources department to see if your employer has a matching gift program.

Planned Giving

Planned Giving Planned gifts can offer significant estate tax and income benefits, while at the same time allow donors to make larger gifts to the Rockbridge Area Health Center.

Qualified Charitable Giving

Qualified charitable distributions (QCDs) are a unique tax strategy that allows individuals who are at least age 70.5 and have Traditional and/or Inherited IRAs to distribute up to $100,000 per year directly from their IRA to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with no federal income tax consequences. The financial institution will need to make the check payable directly from your IRA but you may want to mail the check to the charity yourself, to ensure that the charity acknowledges the gift is from you.

NAP Credits: The purpose of the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) is to encourage businesses, trusts and individuals to make donations to approved 501(c) (3) organizations for the benefit of low-income persons. In return for their contributions, businesses, trusts and individuals may receive tax credits equal to 65 percent of the donation that may be applied against their Virginia income tax liability.
