Dr. Lyons is a long term resident of Rockbridge County and joined RAHC in 2018 as a Family Physician. Dr. Lyons earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from Loyola Colle and earned her Medical Doctorate degree from the University of Maryland School of Maryland. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama Medical Center. She has over 30 years of experience working in Emergency Departments, private practices, internal medicine and as a Hospitalist in Lexington, VA. Her most recent work has been as a Hospitalist and Medical Director for the Hospitalist Program at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital. She has previously been on the Board of Directors and Medical Director at Rockbridge Area Hospice, the medical advisor to Lexington Lifesaving Crew, and a member of the Board of Directors for Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Currently, Dr. Lyons is an American Red Cross, Disaster Action Team Member and Health Services Responder. Her special interests include preventative medicine, care of chronic conditions, diagnostic challenges, and women’s health issues. During her free time, Dr. Lyons enjoys gardening, as part of the Masters Gardeners Association, and she enjoys cooking and needlecraft including quilting, crochet, and sewing.
