Dental Hygienist

The Rockbridge Area Health Center (RAHC) is currently recruiting a full-time Dental Hygienist to join the Dental Team at Mountain View Family Dentistry (MVFD) in Buena Vista, VA. All candidates must meet employee health requirements, including vaccination against COVID-19.

The Dental Hygienist is responsible for the direct provision of oral hygiene and appropriate preventive services to dental patients of the center. The Registered Dental Hygienist will also be responsible for providing appropriate oral health information to individuals and groups. He/She is a member of the clinical team and works cooperatively and effectively with the staff, utilizing a balanced approach which includes the perspectives of all disciplines involved in the Clinic’s health services. The Dental Hygienist will participate in establishing specific productivity goals and other activities that respond to and ensure the long-term viability of the Dental Program. The hygienist will participate in and be an active member of the mobile dental program.

Requirements:

  • Unrestricted license to practice Oral Hygiene in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Current CPR certification
  • Cannot be sanctioned under Medicaid or Medicare

Skills and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of oral hygiene care in outpatient settings
  • Knowledge of the principles and practice of modern oral hygiene and periodontal patient care
  • Cognizant of the public health, social and economic factors which impact on the overall health, and more specifically the oral health of their patients
  • Ability to creatively work with other health care professionals from a variety of disciplines to achieve maximal program effectiveness and patient benefit
  • Ability to creatively solve problems through individual and/or programmatic action is an important part of this position
  • Ability to provide patient care independently or with the aid of a dental assistant

Staff Nurse – LPN

RAHC is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced LPN to join its growing team of health care professionals.  As part of the patient care team, the LPN provides quality, comprehensive care by returning patient calls and completing provider orders such as medication refills, scheduling referral and/or specialist appointments, authorizing and scheduling diagnostic testing, performing phlebotomy and/or finger sticks, completing laboratory forms and performing other point-of-care tests such as a urinalysis, strep test, EKG, vision screening, pulse oximetry, etc. As part of the patient care team, the LPN provides patient-centered care and collaborates with the Quality Improvement team to track the implementation of best practices and achievement of quality measures.

The successful candidate must be a graduate from an accredited nursing program, must have an active LPN license in the state of Virginia, certification in Basic Life Support and experience in an office-based clinical setting. Applicants must be willing to provide proof of all employee health requirements.

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

RAHC is currently recruiting a Medical Assistant to join its growing team of health care professionals.  They will perform patient care and administrative duties proficiently and efficiently while communicating with providers and other team members about patient needs. They will assist other team members to provide quality, comprehensive care by returning patient calls and completing provider orders such as medication refills, scheduling referral and/or specialist appointments, authorizing and scheduling diagnostic testing, performing phlebotomy and/or finger sticks, completing laboratory forms and performing other point-of-care tests such as a urinalysis, strep test, EKG, vision screening, pulse oximetry, etc. As part of the patient care team, the Medical Assistant provides patient-centered care and collaborates with the Quality Improvement team to track the implementation of best practices and achievement of quality measures.

The successful candidate will have a certification or be an applicant for certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Medical Assistant in the state of Virginia, certification in Basic Life Support and experience in an office based setting.
