On Thursday, December 1, 2022, RAHC Certified Application Specialist Lori Ashbridge visited the 3WZ studios to share information regarding the open enrollment period for health insurance coverage for 2023, which is underway through Jan. 15. Citizens have until Dec. 15 to enroll for coverage to begin Jan. 1.
The Rockbridge Area Health Center has trained and certified application counselors on staff who offer anyone in the community free, confidential, over-the-phone or in-person assistance with understanding what affordable health insurance options are available, as well as help with insurance enrollment.
In her interview, Lori shares that there are more options available this year and those with insurance plans should reevaluate their coverage in case there are new options that could save money.
All plans through the ACA (Affordable Care Act) offer valuable coverage, including preventative coverage with no out-of-pocket costs on services such as wellness visits, blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol testing, and cancer screenings.
Enrollment appointments are available over the phone or in person, are confidential, and are open to the public. When making an appointment, discuss with the application counselor the necessary documents that will be needed for enrollment.
