Larry Berger

PhD, LPC, LSATP

Dr. Larry Berger is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner, and Behavioral Health Program Director, providing counseling services to a diverse range of clients from teenagers to older adults.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Carnegie Mellon University, a master’s in counseling from Geneva College, and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Walden University.

Throughout his counseling career, Dr. Berger has supported individuals and couples facing a wide range of challenges, including substance use disorders and mental health issues, using approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Dr. Berger believes that whether someone is motivated internally or externally, if they are seeking help, they can be helped. He adapts his approach to meet each patient’s unique needs, drawing on his training and experience to guide individuals on their path to personal growth, well-being, and alignment with their values.

As a clinician, Dr. Berger sees his role not as someone who tells people what to do, but as a partner who helps patients gain insight and make informed decisions that support their personal journey.

In his free time, Dr. Berger enjoys exercising, sports, music, woodworking, reading, and art. He lives in Rockbridge County with his wife.
