Mayumi Smitka

PA-C

Mayumi (my-you-me) Smitka, PA-C, is a Physician Assistant providing primary medical care to patients ages five (5) years and older.

A proud Rockbridge County High School graduate, Mayumi earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Economics from Brown University and a Master of Science in Physician Assistant studies from Mary Baldwin University. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Prior to becoming a physician assistant, Mayumi played a vital role in preserving rural jobs at The Greenbrier luxury resort while serving on the marketing team. Driven by a desire to make a more direct impact on people’s lives, she transitioned to healthcare and gained valuable experience as an EMT.

As a lifelong resident of Lexington, Buena Vista, and now Rockbridge County, Mayumi understands the need for more primary care providers in the area. Having been a patient at RAHC herself, she fully supports its mission and empathizes with the challenge of balancing the need for medical care with the necessity of other commitments.

Mayumi lives with her husband and two children, who cherish moments with both sets of grandparents. In her spare time, Mayumi enjoys ringing handbells and tending to her growing collection of plants.
